Overdub

Overdub is an all youth radio show. The crew is all teenagers of ages ranging from 13-18, who you can read about in the members page. Overdub airs once a month on the first Thursday of every month. Although in the recent past we have had shows twice a month on the third thursday as well. The Thursday show is from 6PM-7PM, and we try to be call-in oriented. This means that the shows are open to callers at the # 303-442-4242.

KGNU

KGNU is the boulder community radio station. 88.5 FM in Boulder, 1390 AM Denver. The Overdub radio show is exclusive only to KGNU. We meet at the station on Sundays for planning of the future shows.

Host Intro: This montage was produced by KGNU Youth Media's Dov Hirsch, from teen comments and teen-created call-in shows and interviews conducted during live-broadcasts, public school training sessions and youth training workshops at KGNU. Whether it's middle school girls from immigrant families discussing their feelings about abortion with an expert on teen outreach from a local women's clinic, high school students from affluent families talking about drug use and racism, or a look at hunger among children, teens have a lot to say.

Rex Chance and Missing Dolphins - Drama

Host Intro: During one summer youth radio workshop, Will Campos, a high school teen who had started in KGNU's youth media program at the age of 12, was a lead trainer. Working with a group of teen and middle school students, he wrote a "film noir" drama script, they gathered sound effects and music, and they all acted together to create the story. This radio drama is the result. Will is now in his early 20s and credits his experience with KGNU youth media as one of the reasons why he went to one of the top screenwriting schools in the nation. He's planning to make script writing a career.

In-Studio Radio Broadcast Skills
Field Recorder Basics
How to use Sound Editing Software
How to be Music Disc Jockey
How to Create a News Feature and/or Radio Drama
And much more

Course Graduates will be qualified to use Radio Studio Space at KGNU and can become volunteer broadcasters, journalists and DJs one of numerous radio department, as well as KGNU's ongoing youth radio program, Overdub. This workshop is open to teens aged 12-19.
